Foundation History

The Gift of Life America Fund, Inc. was established in March 2004 by New Jersey businessman and philanthropist Nicholas A. Laganella II who had a vision to improve the lives of medically-compromised and disadvantaged children. Funds are raised through general appeals and annual fundraising events, which are supported by generous individuals and corporations that share a passion for helping others. Thanks to these individuals and corporations, the Gift of Life America Fund, Inc. is able to provide vitally-needed financial support to children whose medical problems are not funded by established sources.

Making a Difference

GOLA’s most successful fundraising event continues to be the annual golf classic held at Edgewood Country Club in Rivervale, NJ. Over the years, GOLA has funded over $741,000 worth of medical, dental, ocular, and related service needs for disadvantaged children in the tri-state region. Further, GOLA supports its community by offering more than just financial contribution. Oftentimes, the families of children with severe and chronic medical problems benefit from assistance with navigating insurance, financial, and related medical service matters. GOLA’s committeeworks directly with area hospitals, physicians, and medical specialists to provide advocacy help and reduced rate or pro-bono medical care to those in need.

Through its financial awards and advocacy efforts, the Gift of Life America Fund, Inc. makes a real and lasting difference in the quality of life of disadvantaged children and their families.
